Hello and thank you for dropping by. We recently enjoyed another workshop on the sandy beaches of Longboat Key, Florida. What a job – somebody’s gotta do it, right? I brought the attendees of the workshop out to a location which provided some terrific props (dead trees in the water). I got into a little bit of theory about the pictures we would soon be creating and no sooner said than done, we were off. Here are some samples of what I covered.

Beautiful model posing during photo shoot workshop

(Above) This fabulous photo of model Kristen Clark, demonstrates the technique of mixing ambient light and flash strobe. This is a topic of much discussion and a technique to be very much desired.

A pull-back showing swimsuit photography workshop

(Above) This pull-back reveals some of what was occurring around the model during the workshop. Here you can see the placement of a strobe used to illuminate the model. It’s elevation, direction and power settings were explained in detail. I also explained step-by-step the use of a custom white balance and its enormous contribution to the overall image. Remember the saying, “Location, location, location”? It’s true.

More images to follow from the workshop as I receive them from the other photographers in attendance at the workshop – visit back soon!

Hi ya’l. In a recent model shoot in Florida, I created a series of images of a lovely model by the water’s edge. The shoot started in the late morning and continued until sunset. Florida is in no short supply of beaches and I take full advantage of this fact. Enjoy the images and leave some comments behind!!!

Sunset Model Shoot in Florida

(Above) Though the images are in no particular order as of this posting, the image above was crafted around 30 minutes before sunset. I waited for the foreground to become wet incoming waves as I needed a reflection of not only the model but the sun as well.

Incredible Model Shoot in Florida by Angel Navarro Photography

(Above) I have received several “WOWs” for this particular image. The web preview just does no justice to the actual printed image. Notice the light fall off from the model’s face to her left hip. Her expression is priceless!

Model shoot at sunset in Florida

(Above) This image is a great example of how to marry a proper foreground exposure to the background. The setting sun added the extra drama I searched for as a backdrop to this stunning image.

Mid-day model shoot on a Florida beach.

(Above) Rewinding back a bit, this image was captured earlier in the day. I employed three strobes plus the sun – a key light and two kickers. The sun did the bulk of the work for me setting the base for my exposure. I used some camera rotation to intentionally place the model’s body in such an angle as to fit the bottom and right areas of the frame. Her open expression and body language lead the viewer towards the open sky.

Swimwear model shoot.

(Above) I started fashioning this image desiring to blow out the background due to some distractions which were visible from camera position. I accomplished this by returning some of the sun’s light back to the model through the use of two reflectors. Because my exposure on the model required a longer shutter speed than that of the background, the result was a washed out background.
